Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
This policy explains what personal data Joycast collects, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We collect as little as we can and never sell it.
01Who we are
Joycast is a video podcast production studio based in Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom, and the data controller for the personal data described here. For anything about your data, email hello@joycast.co.
02The data we collect
When you contact us or build a package
If you use the contact form or the package builder, we collect the details you give us, typically your name, email address, the name or link of your show, and whatever you write in your message. If you build a package, we also receive the specification you put together so we can quote it.
When you book a call
Booking a call is handled by Cal.com. You provide your name, email and a time; that information is processed by Cal.com and passed to us so we can meet you.
When you become a client
To produce your show we handle the raw recordings and brand material you send, along with the account and billing details needed to run the work and take payment.
When you visit the site
The Joycast site is a static website. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service secure and running. If we use website analytics, we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that doesn't identify you.
03Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To reply and quote, when you get in touch. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and taking steps to enter into a contract with you.
- To deliver the work and run your account, editing, clips, delivery, billing and support. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To keep records and meet legal duties, for example tax and accounting. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To keep the site secure, via server logs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service.
04Who we share it with
We share personal data only with the service providers we need to run Joycast, and only as far as they need it to do their job. These currently include:
- FormSubmit, processes submissions from our website forms and forwards them to our email.
- Cal.com, handles call bookings.
- Our email and file-storage providers, to correspond with you and hold your production files.
- Our payment provider, to take card payments securely. We don't store your full card details.
- Our website host, to serve the site.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it. We never sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
05Where your data is held
Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we rely on providers that protect it to a standard recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
06How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and, if you become a client, for the length of our working relationship. After that we keep what we're legally required to (for example, records needed for tax) and delete the rest. Production files are kept while we're working together; tell us if you'd like your material removed once a project is complete.
07Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to delete your data, where there's no overriding reason to keep it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
- ask for your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent, where we relied on consent.
To exercise any of these, email hello@joycast.co and we'll respond within the time the law allows. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
08Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business changes. The version on this page is the current one, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
